The life of a girl who is rescued from almost certain slavery to a life where only God could lead her is beautifully told in amazing detail. The descriptions of Old Testament life are vivid. You can practically taste and smell the food at the wedding feast, as well as feel the texture of the fibers used when she decides to spin and weave.In addition to transporting you to the Old Testament, Plotner shows a woman who is completely dedicated to God’s leading. She prays continually – prayers for thanks when she is blessed and prayers of direction when faced with difficult situations. It inspired me to strive for a closer relationship with God through a more active prayer life.I highly recommend Joyous Song to anyone wanting a walk through Old Testament times, insight into dedicated prayer life, and an inspirational story.
The Proverbs 31 Woman This is a great book and I am thoroughly enjoying reading it. It is a hard book to put down. I would love to read it cover to cover in one sitting. It is a great insight to typical life for a Jewish woman living in ancient times. It is very easy to put myself in her place and react to things along with this woman. The story is extremely well written with lots of suspense as well as beauty. It makes that time period come alive for me. I am learning about Jewish customs and it is making the Old Testament section of the Bible much clearer for me. I highly recommend it!
Enjoyable read So enjoyed the setting and characters in this book. Well written and an enjoyable read for this time period. Gave me a different perspective on life in this time.
