“Funny………Weird…….Cute……Sea Creatures”…….. I bought this book for my kids because we had just come from N.Y. Aquarium the day before and they were still talking about all the different fish..This book has even more amazing, strange, and scary marine life you don’t ever get to see..My niece and I actually saw two fish we thought we cute..The underwater photography is stunning..The colors are bright, beautiful, clear and stand out real nice on their kindle..Each sea creature is listed seperately, packed with information, funny facts and life cycles..At the end of the book to engage and hold your child’s atttention is a fun memory quiz..It comes with the questions and answers on two different pages…So, you can even make an educational game out of it…They both were giggling and smiling which made me happy…These are the two cute ones, “Longhorn Cowfish”, the picture has a bubble it says “Moo” and “Dogface Pufferfish”, which looks like an adorable puppy..We have all seen the regular “Pufferfish” which always fascinates me with their “stunning blue eyes”..This “Dogface Pufferfish” out beats it and except for this book I have yet to see this species on any TV shows..You just may never because it lives in Tropical waters deep in the Indian and Pacific Ocean….Then you will see some really weird or scary looking ones..Like “Red-Lipped Batfish” and guess what it looks like..Plus, it doesn’t even swim…That’s just the beginning..This is excellent book that adults and children will enjoy and they may have you reading over again….

A fascinating cross section of strange marine animals I used my monthly Prime free borrow to read this book, and I didn’t regret using it, since I really enjoyed the book. I’ve been fortunate to have scuba dived for many years, and I’ve seen and photographed many of the creatures in the book. The author has included a nice sampling of weird-looking fish and invertebrates. The majority are relatively common, at least in certain locations, but some, like the Colossal Squid and Oarfish are extremely rare and are seldom seen. There are hundreds of other fish that could have qualified as “funny and weird,” but the book includes many of the best examples. The photography is excellent, as is the text which lists each species’ range, what they feed on, and a general description. At the end of the book is a 21-question quiz about what was learned in the reading. (Answers are also included.)The book is a nice introduction to the gallery of bizarre creatures that dwell beneath the seas of the world.
