Any indie band who received two nominations in the latest BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music without any official CD release to their name had to have something going for them. And so it comes to pass, as Oi Va Voi’s extraordinary debut finally reaches retail. Oi Va Voi have come up with a debut album of uncommon grace, diversity and beauty. They perform it with the confidence and agility that suggests there’s plenty more where that came from. Outcasted. 2006.

Something to Experience! I’ve got to know this CD about one month ago, and from that moment on, I’ve not stopped to listen at it! It’s incredible how Oi Va Voi mix different styles into a music that is completely different from any other thing I’ve listened till now. It’s jazz, electronic, ethnic, klezmer played as a “whole music” that makes you go far away and greatly breath!

Interesting Instrumentation As soon as I found out KT Tunstall was on this album, I had to buy it. Later on I found out that Sophie Solomon was on this album as well, so another bonus! Not being familiar with Oi va Voi, I was somewhat taking a gamble. But this cd showcases the vibes of world music, particularly of Jewish/Middle Eastern feel. Some of my favorite tracks are “Ladino song”, “Refugee”, and “Today’s Mistakes.”
