Some time during the 21st century, the world was struck with an unprecedented disaster that caused the human dimension to collide with the dimension of the fae, and literally rip the lands apart. Humans called it their Apocalypse; the fae recognized it as the Fall of the Veil.
Over 700 years had passed since the catastrophe, and now ruined technology is one of the most valuable treasures in the New World, and the humans and fae live together in harmony, but not without its share of prejudice. Privileged humans hold the most power in the recycled mana-generated cities, while the light elves and dwarves come second as representatives of the fae in courts and councils. Gnomes are sought after for their unique magick; selkies for their companionship, and witches are hated and discriminated against because of past sins. A young orphaned boy named Silas is a witness to all of this.
Although Silas knows the world is full of corruption and injustices, his only desire in life is to gain the freedom to do as he pleases, which often influences his reckless behavior. When a tragedy strikes his hometown, it actually gives Silas the opportunity to realize his dream. The path towards his yearning, leads him to inherit a mysterious power from an equally mysterious race, and ultimately, pursue a life of piracy.
As a young man, Silas becomes captain of a select crew of unique rebels, traveling through the seas, and living a life free from authority. But after a scheme goes into an unexpected direction, he and his crew stumble on an adventure that pushes him towards a much greater destiny than he anticipated.
“Being a hero is overrated.”
