Why do we obsess over something we want, worry about keeping what we have, or long to get it back once it’s gone? Why do we insist that someone love us, even if he or she clearly does not? Why do we go through life burdened by guilt, clinging to the past or worried about the future? We waste so much time feeling jealous, insecure, angry, and depressed. And at our lowest moments, we sometimes feel that if life is a gift, we’d just as soon return it. These recurring themes, so often cleverly hidden within our modern-day problems, strongly resonate with the precious Dharma teachings of 2,500 years ago. The author, who has answered hundreds of worldwide requests for personal advice, employs simple and straightforward dialogue in an easy-to-read Q&A format. Responding to some of our most universal questions, she illuminates the underlying causes of our difficulties, and demonstrates how ancient Dharma teachings continue to create unique opportunities for awakening our true potential. If you’d like to re-discover your smile and live a happier life, this book is for you. If you’re simply searching for a deeper understanding of yourself and others, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Good practical introduction to Buddhism as applied to daily life I enjoyed this book and think people who are interested in l earning some basic concepts of Buddhism and how to apply Buddhist philosophy to common problems in life will benefit from reading it.
A thought provoking guide to life’s problems. This quick read is packed full of great wisdom of the Dharma teachings and how they may be applied to some of life’s challenges. Having little background in Buddhism or Dharma, I found the book very easy to follow, interesting, and accessible. The sections on mind and ego really connected with me as I thought of my own struggles. I found myself wanting more on the concepts of interdependence and emptiness, as I’m finding those difficult to wrap my mind around in terms of their comfort, but the book is a good introduction to them. Overall, I truly enjoyed the book and its positive message of how most of us control our own happiness, regardless of the problems we face. This is a great read for anyone interested in opening their mind to a new perspective.
Great for All Ages I got this book and truly enjoyed reading it. The responses to very universal questions and concerns were brilliant! I had my granddaughter (age 14) read the book and she couldn’t put it down. This book has a very broad audience, from young teens to seniors.
