Lilli Lehmann (November 24, 1848 – May 17, 1929), classic German operatic soprano, authentic, autographed vintage handwritten quotation (AQS), 7.75 x 5. Renown for her exceptional vocal range, Lehmann was a voice teacher as well. In 1916, she founded the International Summer Academy at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Extracted from the pages of a 1902 Autograph Calendar book recovered from Orange Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, Lehmann added the following quote to a page with the printed date of January 12: “Health is the greatest happiness, sickness the greatest misfortunate. Healthy people may help themself in working, poor sick people should be helped by others. To be able to help where ever a creature is in distress seems to me the greatest satisfaction. Help the others and be glad not to need help yourself. Lilli Lehmann.”
Overall light toning, a vertical crease towards the right edge, a small, professionally repaired tear, and adhesive professionally attached to the left edge, otherwise fine condition.
