R. Ford Mashburn says:

Steel Panthers 2 — Modern Battles Steel Panthers 2 is a fantastic improvement over the original of the series, Steel Panthers. Your expanded capabilities are further enhanced by a patch from SSI which corrects some of the games deficiencies.

Avi Chami says:

A good follow-up to Steel Panthers First of all, if you want a good description of the game, look at the GameSpot Review above.

Play these old Dos games in Windows 7 (and XP) Google the program “DosBox” (it’s free). Install (effortless) and you will be playing these old dos games in full screen with modern sound. A no-brainer, really. Here’s what to do. Install the program (DosBox). Don’t run it yet. Then create a new folder on your real C drive – that folder will be your “virtual” Dos C: drive. I called mine “sp-dos”. Then go to the Start menu, find the DosBox folder, and start “Options” and then “DosBox 074 Options”. It opens the DosBox config file in notepad. Cut and paste these lines at the very bottom of the file:mount c “c:sp-dos”c:mount d x: -t cdromwhere “x” is the current (real) drive letter of your cd/dvd drive. Then use the desktop shortcut to start DosBox. Hit Alt-Enter to go into (and out of) Full Screen. All dos commands work as of old. Insert your game cd, and install the game (in DosBox virtual Dos) to a new directory in your virtual C drive, just like usual. For Steel Panthers, it asks you to configure your “Sound Blaster” – just use the automatic config, then “Done” and it works fine. That’s all there is to it! The mouse, sound etc all work great, and the full-screen video is awesome. When you’re done, exit the game, and then type “exit” to close DosBox. Once you get it running, you can add auto commands to the config file, such as “cd steel2, steel2.exe” and the game will start automatically when you open DosBox. You have to have your game cd in the drive to play Steel Panthers, but there is also an option in DosBox to mount a cd-image file as a virtual drive and not have to mess with the cd at all.
