Not a Bad Story Between a Smile and a Tear was not a bad story. It wasn't great either. It held my attention, Had me flipping the pages, to find out what was going to happen. But you know pretty fast who the bad guys are and who is trying to ruin Jacks life and why. But it is full of twists and turns, who to trust, and who shouldn't be trusted. For a writer Jack doesn't seem very smart. But it all ends the way it should. I received a copy of this in exchange for my review. I would say it was entertaining and good way to pass time.

Entertaining and credible I was between books and willing to look at something new, when I happened upon Bucchianeri’s “Between A Smile And A Tear.” I’m an avid reader, so my standards are high. This one didn’t disappoint.Writer Jack Waters has just tasted his first success, and is sorting out his troubled marriage, when he’s sucker punched–seemingly out of the blue. What follows is a highly credible quest for answers by a man who slowly realizes that he must reexamine everything he trusts and believes in, complicated by his being unwittingly snared into a brutal criminal underworld.I found this a solidly entertaining story. (It wouldn’t make a bad movie. IKR! I should wash my mouth out with soap now!) The characters are fresh, complicated and yet authentic. The detail is rich enough to allow you to paint the scene in your imagination. Bucchianeri has a way with suspense–hooking you, drawing you in a little, letting you play out a bit, then drawing you in some more–keeping the line just so taut. Chapter by chapter, you weigh each potential outcome as new details surface.In the end, he wraps it up credibly. All in all, a satisfying read! Bucchianeri is on my must-read list now.
