Full spectrum light bulb that imitates daylight, energy star compliant, long life of about 10,000 hours; *) low energy consumption, good for treating Seasonal Affective Disorder S.A.D., for photo studio lights, or for starting plant growth. This is a Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. Fits all medium-base E27/E26 sockets, but this is a large bulb that might create a fit problem with standard lamp harps of household light fixtures; a larger lamp harp is needed, see ALZO 9″ harp, ASIN B0035LTIZE. Dimensions: L: 6.5″; W (Diameter): 2 1/4″; Length socket base to top of ballast: 2 3/4″; W (diameter) of socket: 1″. Also available as a 15W bulb, see ASIN B0089MIH8I. *) ALZO CFL bulb life is based on the bulb in an open air upright orientation. When ALZO bulbs are installed in fixtures that lack adequate ventilation, the life of the bulb will be reduced. If an ALZO CFL bulb is installed in an overhead recessed light fixture with the bulb glass below the base, the life of the bulb will be greatly reduced. ALZO warranty for all CFL bulbs is 30 days.

Just like having a skylight I bought this bulb since I wanted to replace the yellow, hot, energy-wasting 100 watt incandescent bulb in my overhead light. I’m an artist so I wanted to get something less ‘yellow’ and closer to daylight. I went to the store and picked up a 6500k CFL bulb, but it was too blue (and dimmer than I was used to, although the lumens were supposed to be comparable to the incandescent 100 watt bulb I used before). After some research online, I found that 5500k is actually preferable for natural light bulbs by a lot of artists. Unfortunately, very few manufacturers make bulbs at 5500k – they’re either 6500k or 2700k. I was delighted to find this bulb by ALZO at exactly the temperature I wanted. I ordered it, received a shipping confirmation email the next day, and the day after that the bulb arrived on my doorstep. I am very pleased with the quick shipping and careful packaging of this product.I was even more pleased when I turned on the overhead light with my new bulb, and my room filled up with what felt like daylight. As I sit here, it feels like I have a skylight in my room – the light is natural and very bright – in fact, it feels brighter than my previous 100-watt incandescent. It is a bit longer than normal CFLs, but this wasn’t a problem for me since my fixture holds bulbs sideways. I highly recommend this bulb to any artist who is looking for a natural light bulb, and doesn’t want to deal with the (too blue) 6500k or the (too yellow) 2700k bulbs out there.
I hate WINTER – this offers some relief I dont know about you…but when days get shorter and colder we tend to spend a lot of time indoors. Regular bulbs are constantly yellow and after a while the yellow started to bother the living daylights (pun intended) out of me. I read some articles online and looked for a solution….voila the Full Spectrum CFL.The light is VERY bright and a cool white – just like daylight! Very refreshing.I bought one of these to try in my home office – it is FANTASTIC. I use computers and am sitting in our basement where the daylight is limited..small windows. I got this bulb to help me with the doldrum lighting and it worked like a CHAMP…I feel better with the white light – reading is much easier and I am not seeing yellow all over. EXCELLENT.Now then – test 2 – I have a major issue trying to see between black and navy blue in the morning in our closet…my two favorite colors. I would sometimes wear black pants and navy socks and vice versa… I figured this bulb would be best tested in the closet. Voila again…it is so bright (after its 3-4 second warm up) that I can see the difference in colors now.I am sold and am going to get more of these…but there is 1 thing to be aware of. This bulb is not small…its quite tall and thus you must make sure that if you have a fixture that covers the bulb has enough space to spare to allow this in. – Just a caution.5/5 for me….Enjoy!
bright, clean light — but too big for the most fixtures! This gives off a nice, bright ‘clean’ natural light. I ordered it for my plant seedlings and indoor plants, because it gives off a full-spectrum of light and isn’t yellow like most indoor lighting. However, it is really hard to explain how large this lightbulb actually is — it wouldn’t even fit in the fixture of one of those silver workshop clamp lights! The metal socket part fits, but the actual base of the lightbulb is too big for the lamp, and can’t get screwed down all the way! So make sure that whatever fixture you use is big enough for this bulb. Will try and upload a photo later with an ordinary object beside it for size comparison.
