One of the first forms of communication that babies learn is laughter. Some of our children rely on this nonverbal form of communication longer than others. In our urgency to hear our kids reach the major milestone that is talking, we don’t always appreciate this delightful form of communication. This book is a reflection on how genuinely valuable this way of communicating is to our children and to society. Accompanying each page of text, this book includes color photographs of children laughing. The children depicted are of diverse backgrounds and all of them have a recognized speech delay, sometimes because of a specific diagnosis like Down syndrome or Cerebral Palsy and in other cases the reason for the delay is undiagnosed.
