Predictably after a few months it gets pretty nasty so we tried to replace it with similar toys from Petsmart. Most of these he simply ignores and the remainder he would destroy almost immediately. Thanks to Amazon now he is as happy as ever and we have him on a 6 month rotation to get a new one.

The toy does have a squeaker in it that is very durable as my dog loves to dig them out and has yet to be able to do so on this toy. If your dog is anything like mine prepare for hours of squeak squeak squeak though.
