Lame… I tried this product for at least an hour and when I figured out it couldn’t import .MOV files, I gave up. All of my Canon camera videos import into my computer AS .MOV files, so this is a useless product if you want to try and edit those kinds of files. Not worth the money or the time! I’ve decided to return this item to Amazon (where I bought it).

Not As Wonderful As Some Reviews I allowed myself to become convinced by some of the glowing reviews of this software; that was a mistake. There are multiple issues with this this product which I will list here:1) It is very prone to glitches. More than half the time I have to abandon “the project” because it just locks up and “is not responding”.2) The owner’s manual and online help are very poorly written. The authors seem to be under the impression the consumer is already well versed with Movie Edit Pro. Their answers are like that of politicians; it sounds like they’re saying something but not really.3) The outlay is not user friendly. While working with the manual and the online help you are left wondering what an ill named function really is. Once you’ve decided to let curiosity dictate suddenly it’s glitched and you have to close everything down.If you can avoid this program from freezing up it does offer a range of editing which is convenient. The problem is that the only way to truly learn it is by randomly clicking and seeing what functions will get what you want.At it’s core Movie Edit Pro is a good idea but the designers need to go back to the drawing board. Once it’s improved it may be worth it but as it stands right now all you’re buying is a headache.

The program loads faster, project loading is accelerated and the interface seems faster than ever before.I have been a MAGIX Movie Edit Pro customer for a number of years and I now own the MX Premium version, as well as the MX version. I purchased Movie Edit Pro 11 in 2007 and have been extremely pleased with the results I have achieved, the excellent product support…..and more importantly, the ability to listen to the suggestions of their customers and implement those suggestions into newer versions. That has never been more apparent than with this version of the product. Not everyone needs all of the professional add-ons that MAGIX offers, but they DO NEED a reliable, easy to use professional program at a GREAT price! MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX delivers…..on ALL COUNTS!!!!I have used numerous video editing software products over the years….since 1988 and MAGIX has always been my ‘go to’ product to edit any video I have taped. Whether it is an ‘edit’ for a customer or my own home video’s, I have been amazed at the result and just keep coming back for more.WHAT IS AMAZING about this version is the Blu-Ray discs you can create with animated menus and present your videos on TV, on the go or online. The BEST part is the NEW MEDIA-x-change feature in which you can share your ‘professional’ videos with a ‘click’ of a button to YouTube, Facebook, vimeo, MAGIX-Online, and more.Here is what I have found are the major changes/additions from Movie Edit Pro 17…..using the same computer…. + Performance has been greatly improved. The 17 version generally loaded within about 10-15 seconds, but this one seems to load to the project screen in about 5-6 seconds…..an almost 150% improvement over previous versions. They do say it will load ’3-time faster’ than Movie Edit Pro 17 HD ….AND I believe it because I have seen it in action on the same PC. + The media I have on my computer is quite large in multiple directories/folders and has always taken a long time to display before you could pick one. In this version, the access to these folders is almost instantaneous. Love it! + This version now uses ‘expanded’ memory on 64-bit systems for caching and this certainly speeds up the process and makes this program a ‘winner’ from the start. + This version contains 28 new backgrounds…animation loops and templates. If you have ever searched for ‘looping’ backgrounds on the web, you will know how much they cost and can add significantly to a post-production….even if you are just editing ‘home’ movies. Adding 28 backgrounds is a definite ‘plus’ for this program along with 4 new title templates, 4 new transitions, 15 new fonts in this versions. In the Movie Edit Pro XM Plus and MX Premium versions you will find even more great content: 35 NEW disc menus (20 in Movie Edit Pro MX) 12 NEW ‘effect’ transitions 15 movie ‘templates’Everyone wants to make their ‘home’ movies look professional and MAGIX has delivered! + This version has Mini-DV and HDV support and AVCHD support + Video editing on 32 tracksAnd a multitude of other additions that will certainly make your video editing a pleasure.One excellent program but there is more. I just visited their website at [...] and find that the MX PREMIUM version is packaged with a number of additional features over the MX and MX Plus versions and is $20 less expensive than the MX Plus version. I wish I had seen that one coming but I am extremely happy with the great prices that I have always enjoyed with MAGIX.I am certain that you will be ‘up-to-speed’ with any MAGIX program in just a few minutes and if you have questions, you will find MAGIX support is ‘up-to-speed’ with helping you make a very professional video.I would CERTAINLY suggest that you at least try the MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX version, but getting the MX Premium version will garner you more features and a lot of ‘EXTRAS.’ The ‘EXTRAS’ are…
